President's Message

It is indeed an honour and privilege for me to have joined the ranks of those men and women who have served PROBUS Canada as its President since the organization started here in Canada in 1987. I look forward to working with my fellow Directors and our very willing and especially able contractors to ensure that the organization continues to go from strength to strength.

I am a charter and lifetime member of the Escarpment Probus Club of Milton here in Ontario. The Club is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and I am very much looking forward to presenting it with a certificate recognizing  that important milestone. I am already one year into my second term as the Director for Ontario District #4 and in addition to my year as Vice President I have also served as Treasurer of PROBUS Canada.

We said farewell this year to Past President Bob MacNair and Directors Dennis Pommen and Lorna Eadie Hocking and on behalf of all our members I would like to Thank them for their years of service to PROBUS Canada and express appreciation for all they did on behalf of the organization.

At our AGM in April we welcomed three new Directors to the Board in the persons of Martin Buscher, Bob Middaugh and Doug Byers who represent Ontario Districts 7, 8 & 9 - the latter two being newly created Districts. I welcome them to the Board and look forward to working with them.

In April we also welcomed Wendy Machmer as our Executive Director in the place of Lori McDowell who unfortunately had to step down for family reasons. Wendy has a tremendous amount of experience in the not-for-profit sector and I believe we will benefit greatly from that experience.

With the pandemic now thankfully in our rearview mirror I believe the future is bright for PROBUS Canada, its member Clubs and most importantly the more than 34,000 individuals who have chosen to GET CONNECTED and STAY CONNECTED with PROBUS Canada.
